Dynamic Wood Truss Design

roewu_newtwork1.jpg
Strong Design, Metropolis October 2003, highlights a wood and steel cable truss system that changes form with the application of electrical current. Designed by ROEWUarchitecture, the Network Structure is a competition-winning design for an outdoor performances and gatherings platform for next year's Athen's summer Olympics. This is a creative and elegant wood truss design worth a close look.

Im doing a wood truss design project for school. We are only allowed to use two 8 ft wood pieces of pine or douglas fir, 10 steel gusset, 10 wood gusset plates, screws and nails. I need helping making a design that yields the highest load to weight ratio on an Instron testing machine. Please help. Thanks.
